💨 FAQ – Standard Fan Housing with Fume Extraction Arm (7/10/14 ft)

❓What is the airflow (CFM) of the fan housing units?

Model Motor Power Arm Length Estimated CFM (at 2.0 in. w.g.)
108.1001 1.0 HP 7 ft 650–750 CFM
108.1002 1.5 HP 10 ft 850–1000 CFM
108.1003 2.0 HP 14 ft 1050–1200 CFM

These values are based on an 8.25″ impeller operating at 3600 RPM.

❓Can this fan be used with a HEPA or carbon filter box?

Yes. However, if using a HEPA or activated carbon filter, we recommend at least a 1.5 HP (108.1002) or 2 HP (108.1003) motor to compensate for the added pressure drop.

❓What voltage do the motors support?

All three models are equipped with dual-voltage motors (115/208-230V, 60 Hz) and come with a C-Flange mount for quick installation.

❓Is the fan speed adjustable?

By default, no. These units operate at a fixed speed of 3600 RPM. For speed control, a VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) may be added depending on motor compatibility.

❓How noisy is the fan during operation?

Typical operating noise ranges from 70–75 dB depending on arm length, filter resistance, and mounting surface. Optional silencer ducts or acoustic covers can be installed to reduce noise levels.

❓Is it compatible with my existing fume extraction arm?

These models are designed for quick retrofit to the 103.1056 wall bracket, and are compatible with:

  • SSA-1027 (7 ft arm)

  • SSA-1028 (10 ft arm)

  • SSA-1029 (14 ft arm)

They are suitable for both Bench Mount and Wall Mount/Hanging installations.

❓What kind of particles or fumes can it handle?

These fans are ideal for capturing:

  • Welding smoke

  • Soldering fumes

  • Dust and light particulates

  • Chemical or solvent vapors (with proper filtration)

They are not recommended for:

  • Explosive or flammable gases (unless explosion-proof upgrades are applied)

  • Heavy oil mist or liquid suction

❓Is maintenance required?

Yes. We recommend:

  • Inspecting impeller and housing every 6 months

  • Cleaning filters regularly or replacing when airflow drops

  • Checking motor bearings annually (if not sealed)

❓What is the expected lifespan?

With regular maintenance, the fan and motor assembly can last 7–10 years in normal industrial conditions.
